The Bärs

A Men’s Social Club which meets on the 4th Thursday of the month

 

Founded in 1893, the Bärenbrut is one of the oldest of the sub-organizations. While some mystique may surround some of its customs and traditions, there is no mystery about the Bärs providing labor and support when and wherever needed. There is a Brut (meeting) held on the fourth Thursday of every month. The Bärs Anniversary is observed typically on the second Sunday in November.

Gegründet in 1893, die Bärenbrut ist eine der ältesten Männervereinigungen der Deutsch-Amerikanischen Gesellschaft. Einige ihrer aus Norddeutschland hergebrachten altertümlichen Bräuche und ihre kodifizierte Sprache umschwebt für den Außenstehenden ein mystischer Schleier; ihre Arbeit und ihr Beitrag zum Wohlergehen der Gesellschaft sind jedoch jedermann offensichtlich. Die Bärenbrut trifft sich monatlich an jedem vierten Donnerstag.

The Bärs are a social group comprised of men wanting to enjoy a social evening once a month. The Bärs are also a support organization that provides the manpower to do repairs, new construction, and general maintenance when needed.
