Turner Klub
For more than 200 years, the Turner movement has promoted the ideal of “A Sound Mind in a Sound Body.” Founded by Friedrich Ludwig Jahn in Germany, the movement combined physical fitness with character development and community. German immigrants later brought the Turner tradition to the United States, where it helped influence organized physical education and recreational gymnastics.
Today, the German-American Society’s Turner Klub carries that tradition forward with a fun and supportive gymnastics program for children ages 2–13. Turners meet weekly from September through April, developing strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, and gymnastics skills in an environment designed to encourage growth at every ability level.
Just as important as what happens on the mat are the values behind it. Turner Klub centers its program around Respekt (Respect), Mut (Courage), and Zusammenarbeit (Teamwork), helping children develop the confidence, sportsmanship, and lifelong wellness that have been part of the Turner mission for generations.
